How to get there

Appleton is on Signal Hill Road, which is accessible from the Kloof Nek intersection. The turnoff is to your left, exactly 1 km past the Kramat which you pass on the road and about 3 km from Kloof Nek. A regular open-topped tourist bus runs from the city center to Kloof Nek.

It is possible to hike to Appleton from Cape Town station in under two hours. The route via Adderley Street, the Gardens, Kloof Nek Road and Signal Hill Road is varied and interesting.

Appleton is close to the city and easily accessible by road, which makes it ideal for short camps or camps where some Scouts or Scout Leaders can only attend for part of the time.
