JML
Rotary Scout is a wonderful asset available to all Scouts in the Western
Cape. She is a Tosca 39 cruising yacht, moored at the False Bay Yacht Club
in Simonstown. She was launched in 1994, having been built mainly by the
then Assistant Area Commissioner - Water Activities, Neville Coxon. Rotary Scout is quite
accustomed to blue-water sailing – and took part in the 2000 Cape to Rio
Yacht Race, as well as participating in three
Governor’s Cup Yacht Races to St Helena Island.
JML
Rotary Scout offers a variety of training opportunities and adventure
sailing for Scouts. The Deckhand Course explains nautical terms and
concepts and teaches basic sailing skills. Rotary is also available for
Patrol adventures… sailing during the day and returning to harbour at
night for a weekend sleepover – up to 8 people at a time. Longer trips can
be made by arrangement.
There are nominal costs involved, but no Scout who cannot pay will be
turned away.

Scout, download the Rotary Sailing Roster and see which dates are
available for your Troop. |
