Are you a Scout or Guide and are tired of the usual troop camps?
The Battered Boot Night Hike is just for you.
This is an annual event and takes place on one of the farms near
Kimberley, unknown to participating Scouts and Guides.
The hike is very popular in the Free State/Northern Cape province.
Compass and mapping, hiking tactics and teamwork are only some of
the skills that are tested during the hike.
When: The hike starts at 12pm on 9th August and ends with
a ceremony on the 10th August.
Who should attend: Standing Scout and Guide patrols with
a minimum of 4 per patrol and a maximum of 8.
How does it work: Participants receive a map with co-ordinates.

a certain time and a log, covering the hike, must be submitted on
completion of the hike.
Skills tested include, but are not limited to: Log book, hiking
