The Scout Association of Hong Kong has invited our Association
to participate in their Centenary Jamboree to be held from 27 December
2010 to 1 January 2011.
A series of exciting and challenging activities in land and water
will be available for the campers to celebrate the Centenary year
of Hong Kong Scouting.
The Jamboree is open to all youth Scout members, both boys and
girls with the support of adult leaders and they expect more than
5,000 people including 500 youth from Overseas and Mainland China.
27 December 2010 (Monday) 1 January 2011 (Saturday)
Participants are expected to arrive on 26 December 2010 (Sunday)
and depart on 1 January 2011 (Saturday)
VENUE
Pennys Bay next to Hong Kong Disneyland
The site is located in north-eastern Lantau Island, the largest
island in Hong Kong. It is only 30 minutes away from the Hong Kong
International Airport and 40 minutes away from the city centre.
OBJECTIVES
To celebrate the Centenary of Hong Kong Scouting
To promote environmental protection through Scouting
To experience the adventure and fun of camping
To foster World Scout Brotherhood
ELIGIBILITY
Scouts aged between 14 and 18 years.
Each patrol should consist of 9 Scout members and 1 Adult Leader
The Adult Leader must be experienced in running a Troop and be a
Woodbadge Holder. Both Scouts and the Adult leader must be active
members of the Association and be recommended by their respective
Provincial Commissioner and be prepared to adhere to all policies
of the Association and the Code of Conduct for scouts attending
International events.
JAMBOREE FEE
USD150 per person
The cost covers food, tentage, programme activities, camp souvenir
1 night pre-Jamboree accommodation, inland transportation between
the
Hong Kong International Airport and Jamboree site.
AIRFARE The current airfare on SAA departing from Johannesburg on
25 December 2010 and arriving back on 2 January 2011 is R9400.00
OTHER COSTS TO CONSIDER
Personal Items, Spending Money, Uniforms, national badges and scarves
etc. All costs are to be carried by the individual. There is no
financial assistance from the National Office.
EQUIPMENT
Participants should bring their personal camping equipment including
sleeping bags, eating utensils, flashlights, swim suits, rain-wear.
Tents and cooking utensils will be provided.
WEATHER
Average temperature in December is around 10 degrees 20
degrees Celsius.
APPLICATION
All South African Scout Association members must complete the appropriate

ATTEND THE WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE TO HAVE A JAMBOREE EXPERIENCE.
