Suncheon Asia-Pacific Scout Centre
The Suncheon
Asia-Pacific Scout Centre (SAPSC) in Korea is a new International
Scout Centre which was established in 2008 and since March 2009,
the SAPSC has offered programs in English based on the Scout method
of "learning by doing" - a hands-on experiential learning
process in the outdoors through young leaders from the various National
Scout Organizations.
Korean youth may learn real-life, everyday spoken English and global
leadership through various outdoor hands-on programs, weekly English
camp programs, and seasonal experiential programs. At the same time,
staff member may learn about Korea's rich history, culture, and
tradition as well as share the brotherhood of Scouting with participants
and visitors. The Korea Scout Association now invites young Scout
leaders between the ages of 18 and 30 years old to apply as short
term staff.
Staff Role
- Run the Centre's English camp, seasonal and other programs.
- Offer a program to introduce a country's culture and share friendship.
Staff Requirements
- Registered member of SASA and actively involved in scouting.
- All applications must be endorsed by the Provincial Commissioner
before being endorsed by the Chief Scouts Commissioner.
- At least 18 years old (but not older than 30 years old) and
currently enrolled or has graduated from a university.
- Available for at least 12 weeks.
- Able to communicate in English fluently.
- Able to use and teach the Scout method and introduce your country's
culture.
- Able to live by the culture and laws of Korea.

- Living allowance of USD $100 per week
- A small amount of travel fund
- for volunteers within Asia-Pacific Region: USD $400
- for volunteers from other Regions: USD $600
Travel
Staff is responsible for arranging own travel costs to and from
Korea - a small limited amount of travel fund would be available
(See above).

Application Process
- Read the information and complete the application form (available
from SAHQ)
- Submit the application form to the National Office for endorsement
who will forward it to the Korean Scout Association.
- Acceptance of your status will be informed by email through
your National Scout Organization.
NB: All applications must be forwarded to the
International Commissioner via SAHQ.
