Showcasing
Outstanding Achievements by our Members
Over the years Scouting has helped many people achieve their goals and become successful in
many aspects of their lives. Through the programmes which we run we are able to instil
valuable life skills in our Cubs and Scouts. Many of our members have been recognised
for achievements obtained outside our movement, including being elected into
leadership positions at school/university/work, obtaining good marks at the end of Matric,
excelling in sports and many more. We would like to showcase these outstanding
achievements, to show the positive impact Scouting is having on the lives of our
members. We are asking all groups to return the attached
form with this information.

Messengers
for Peace SASA projects
All over the world Scouts are "Creating a Better World" by doing remarkable work in the communities in which they live.
As Scouts, we are helping to alleviate a number of important social issues ranging from feeding the hungry to creating
solutions to environmental issues. The Messengers for Peace initiative aims to bring this all together by creating a
network of Scout service projects around the world. The South African Scout Association (SASA) encourages its members
to initiate service projects within their communities. Groups can apply for funding for specific projects. Please
distribute this message as widely as possible, especially to those groups that do not have internet access.

Air and Sea Scouts Branding Competition
Following the Hall Makeover competition which was launched late last year, we have had a number of
requests from Air and Sea Scout Groups wishing to incorporate their logo designs into our branding. The
research which we have conducted with a number of groups has shown that the air scouts traditionally
have Wings attached to the fleur-de-lis and the sea scouts have an anchor, as seen below.

We have decided to extend the challenge to all members of the movement to come up with a design for
both Air and Sea Scouts. This needs to be kept in line with our branding guidelines.
The closing date for this competition is the 15th February 2012.

Hall makeover competition
We are looking for the best Scout hall makeover in the country. So it's time to change that old signage on your building, mow the grass, clean the windows,
slap some paint on the walls and get your hall rebranded, looking smart and presentable. Entries close 26th March 2012. The criteria for judging the winner will be
originality, creativity, and best use of the Scouting branding. Only official branding may be used. Refer to the branded template for signs.
