King Mswati appoints new Chief Scout for Swaziland

Dear friends,

It is in indeed of honour and privilege to pleasantly inform you all that His Majesty King Mswati III, Ingwenyama of the Kingdom of Swaziland has appointed Richard Magongo as the new Chief Scout.

This ends a five-year long period of speculation and nursing of hopes. Magongo takes over from the late former Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Sishayi Nxumalo, who served from 1968 until he met his death in February 2002. Magongo has served the organisation diligently for many years, which includes more than 20 years as Chief Commissioner.

Magongo's appointment came at a time when the Swaziland Scout Association is starving for major changes, ranging from governance, administration and youth programme. The Deputy Chief Commissioner, Malungisa Dlamini currently in the UK as contingent leader for SSA to the saWSJ is likely to be the next Chief Commissioner.

Best regards,

Bhekie Metfula
